Toyota hit it big in the NASCAR Nationwide Series during the 2009 season, scoring 15 victories and 68-top fives to earn their second consecutive Nationwide Series manufacturer’s title.
Kyle Busch, the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, had a record setting season, leading 2,698 laps, and contributing nine wins to Toyota’s total, the most in Nationwide history ever in a single season. Busch is also the only driver to score ten top-two finishes in a row.
NASCAR driver Mike Bliss has signed on with Tommy Baldwin Racing to drive the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota in 2010. Michael McDowell, who finished out the season in the No. 36 for Baldwin, will remain with the team and may run select races in a Wave Energy Drink sponsored car next year.
"Mike brings a lot of experience to the table and next year, we're stepping everything up," Baldwin said. "He gives us the best chance to qualify for the Daytona 500 and get ourselves in the top 35 in points after the first five events of the 2010 season. I'm very excited to have him on board along with our sponsor, Wave Energy Drink."
