The 2008 Raybestos Rookie contenders today competed before fans in the NASCAR Fanzone. Michael McDowell, Regan Smith, Patrick Carpentier, Jacques Villeneuve, Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr. raced each other not in stock cars or open-wheel cars, but by using R/C cars.

Racing around an improvised track, the drivers struggled to make their way around smoothly – much to the enjoyment of the crowd gathered around. The race was full of flips, hard crashes and spins, with Penske Racing’s Sam Hornish Jr. bringing home the win.

The event was put on by DRIVER magazine and Raybestos. Each driver autographed the R/C cars they raced and they will be auctioned off on ebay.com to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
