Biffle Fastest In Final Practice
Friday, 07 March 2008 19:00

Greg Biffle showed his muscle today by taking his No. 16 Jackson Hewitt Ford to the top of the speed charts with a speed of 184.229 mph. Biffle – who qualified thirteenth for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 – currently sits fifth in the Sprint Cup standings, only 42 points behind leader Kyle Busch.

“The Jackson Hewitt Ford Fusion car is running good,” Biffle told reporters after practice. “Greg (Erwin) and all the guys, everybody back at the shop at Roush Fenway are doing a great job for us. All of our cars are running good and I’m real excited about that.”

Biffle’s teammate Carl Edwards recorded the second fastest time of the day, followed by Clint Bowyer, Ryan Newman and Kasey Kahne. Winning two races in a row, Roush Fenway Racing hopes to go three-for-three this weekend at the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway.

After many looked towards Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports to steal the show in 2008, Jack Roush and his stable of drivers have paced the field for the majority of the season. A confrontation late last year at Martinsville between teammates Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth had many questioning the strength of the relationships at Roush Fenway Racing.

Speaking to the media Friday Biffle explained, “Always a good comes from a bad – always. What came from that tiff that those guys had is a more open forum, a more open relationship between all of us, together.”

Despite the controversy surrounding the team stemming from the penalties on the No. 99, Roush Fenway cars have made huge strides compared to 2007 and look to continue this trend throughout the year.
