Edwards Is Lone Star In Texas
Sunday, 06 April 2008 19:00

For the second time in his career, Carl Edwards sported a cowboy hat and fired the six shooters in victory lane at Texas Motor Speedway.

Edwards was able to hold off Jimmie Johnson on a Green/White/Checkered finish to capture his third victory of 2008.

“This one’s for Bob Osborne sitting at home,” Edwards said in victory lane.

Osborne, Edwards’ regular crew-chief, is in the process of serving a suspension handed out by NASCAR after last month’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Following the team’s win, NASCAR officials discovered the lid to the oil tank was not secured. Edwards was docked 100 points, the team was fined $100,000 and Osborne was suspended for six weeks.

In victory lane once again, the driver of the No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion was quick to point out everything was legal on the car.

"The reason we won at Vegas is because of all the hard work that the guys at the shop and the engine department, it's not because of that oil tank lid," Edwards explained from victory lane.

Sunday’s victory gives Edwards his third of the year and moved him up four spots in the series standings into tenth place.
