An estimated 150 Hardcore Race Fans got the chance to meet two of NASCAR’s future stars, have their pictures taken with them and get an autograph. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Joey Logano and Germain Racing’s Chrissy Wallace looked like they had been signing autographs for years as the pair sat at the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau Friday morning.
Logano – who turns 18 years old on May 24th – has been billed as ‘the next big thing’ by many in the sport. The Joe Gibbs Racing development driver proved his worth at Rockingham Speedway earlier this month, when he nearly lapped the entire field en route to his first ARCA Series victory. Hindered by NASCAR’s minimum age requirement (which is 18 years old), Logano has been eager to jump behind the wheel in NASCAR. He will get that chance May 31st, when he makes his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in Dover, DE. Chrissy Wallace – daughter of Nationwide Series driver Mike Wallace – hopes to carry on the Wallace family tradition of winning. The 20-year-old jumped behind the wheel of a Germain Racing truck for the first time at Martinsville Speedway earlier this year. Wallace was able to weather the storm on the short track and come home with a top-20 finish. Look for Wallace to be behind the wheel again at the Milwaukee Mile this June.
