Until the All-Star Race last weekend at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, I was just a casual fan that had watched a few NASCAR races on television. Being from South Carolina, I have always been interested in Darlington Raceway. Darlington has a race every Mother’s Day weekend so I researched and wrote a story about the history of Darlington Raceway for HardcoreRaceFans.com. Through this I was given the opportunity to attend the All-Star Race.
I invited my friends Ray and Loucindy to enjoy the All-Star Race and festivities. We left the house early to beat the traffic and catch the Three Doors Down concert at the track. To make sure my first race was a great experience I wanted to attend everything the Lowe’s Motor Speedway had to offer. After the concert we retreated out of the infield to find our seats to watch the Thunder Roadsters battle for the checkers. I thoroughly enjoyed the Roadsters race; they really fought and raced hard for a win. The race had a few very exciting wrecks, one Thunder Roadster car took a five barrel-roll along the front stretch of the Lowe’s track. We left the stands to go enjoy our dinner in the Speedway Club, and to watch the start of the race from there. The food was outstanding; I would suggest to all race fans they attend one of the Speedway Club’s feasts’ before the race. We finished our meal and returned to our seats to watch the rest of the race. From our seats it was a great and very exciting event. You could smell the fumes of the high octane Sunoco fuel and burning of their tires as the racers rounded the track. All the fans were on their feet yelling for their favorite racer to push harder for the victory. Kasey Kahne was voted in the All-Star race by the fans and he went on to win the race and a check for one million dollars. As he crossed the finish line he called into his crew and said thanks to the fans. I thought it was neat that Kasey was the fans choice for the All-Star Race and then he gave the fans credit for his victory. I am happy for having the chance to attend the All-Star Race and I am looking forward to going to more races and writing more articles for HardcoreRaceFans.com.
