Haas CNC Cars Sent To R&D Center After Failing Inspection
Sunday, 25 May 2008 10:52

Saturday morning NASCAR officials confiscated both the No. 66 and No. 77 Haas CNC Racing Chevrolets after failing inspection prior to today's final practice. The issue with both cars centered on the placement of the upper rear wing mount, where the wing attaches to the body of the car.

Although there was no official inspection process prior to Saturday's practice, Kerry Tharp, Director of Communications and Competition for NASCAR, said the issue was brought to the sanctioning body's attention by someone in the garage. Tharp explained the garage is a "self-policing area" and that after the issue was brought to NASCAR's attention they followed up.

Both cars were taken to the NASCAR R&D Center in nearby Concord and the teams were told to bring out their back up cars for tomorrow's Coca-Cola 600. More information will become available next week.
