NASCAR has handed down severe penalties to both Haas- CNC Racing teams after discovering the rear wings had been tampered with on the #66 car of Scott Riggs and the #70 driven by Johnny Sauter last weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Bootie Barker, crew chief for Scott Riggs and Sauter crew chief Dave Skog have been suspended for six races beginning with the Best Buy 400 this weekend at Dover. NASCAR also fined both crew chiefs $100,000 and docked both teams 150 driver and owner points.

The Haas- CNC cars were reportedly examined by NASCAR officials after someone in the garage expressed concerns about alterations to the wings of both cars. NASCAR confiscated the teams' cars on Saturday morning and transported them to their nearby Research and Development center in Concord, North Carolina for further tests.

The latest penalties come as some of the most severe to date for infractions relating to the alterations of the COT, now in it's first full season of NASCAR Cup Series competition.
