If Saturday's practice sessions are any indication of what will happen in tomorrow's Best Buy 400 at Dover, Joe Gibbs Racing is going to have some serious competition.
Jimmie Johnson and his No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet topped the leader board of each practice on an overcast and rainy Saturday afternoon.
Although they were not atop the board, JGR drivers Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin were fast in each session. Roush Fenway Racing drivers Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle made impressive runs in each session and look to continue their success at the Monster Mile. Edwards is the most recent Dover winner and Biffle will lead the field to the green tomorrow after a blistering qualifying lap Friday. Defending race winner Martin Truex Jr. was fifth fastest is final practice. The field was not even able to complete one lap during final practice before the skies opened up and brought out the red-and-black flag. Track officials went to work and dried the concrete surface, and the cars were back on track. The session did not last long, however, as dark skies opened up for good this time and saturated the track. Practice was ended early with Johnson atop the board. Today's Nationwide Series Heluva Good! 200 is still up in the air, however radar screens and dark skies do not look promising.
