Jeff Gordon can count himself among the most fortunate of drivers when it comes to primary sponsors. DuPont has supported Gordon through thick-and-thin for as long as I can remember and their partnership has now been extended through 2010.

The Jeff Gordon/Hendrick/DuPont team began in 1992 when Jeff Gordon was just getting started in the then-Winston Cup Series. DuPont supported the talented rookie driver and their relationship has strengthened as Gordon has become one of NASCAR's premier drivers in the Cup Series.

At their annual employee appreciation day aptly named NASCAR Day, David Bills, DuPont chief marketing and sales officer proudly stated "This sponsorship is a perfect match for DuPont - a company known for its science and innovation and longstanding commitment to the automotive industry." Gordon, DuPont and Hendrick Motorsports have all benefited from the partnership and the trio has become the longest running driver/owner/sponsorship combination in Cup Series history. Gordon publicly meets with DuPont every year and says "We come out here before the spring Dover race each year and spend time with the people who lend their support and make our success possible."

No driver takes a sponsor for granted and Jeff Gordon certainly doesn't hide his appreciation of DuPont saying "I started my career with DuPont and I hope to end my career with them as my primary sponsor." Gordon and DuPont go hand-in-hand and barring any major changes it looks like as if Gordon and DuPont have many years ahead of them.
