Dave Blaney has had a roller coaster ride for much of his 2008 racing season. He struggled earlier in the season and is on an upswing of late.
Blaney has kept an optimistic attitude and it has paid off with two top ten finishes to his credit in the last three races.
"I believe we've turned a corner with this Bill Davis racing team in the last couple of weeks, and I am really proud of this team," Blaney said after Dover. "We were frustrated and we were baffled, but instead of getting down and giving up, everybody went to work even harder. This is a really strong team and the guys are an experienced bunch who have, for the most part, been together for a long time. When the chips are down it's good to have a bunch of veterans on your side. It's a big relief to be inside the top thirty five in points and know you are going to race." The Bill Davis Racing driver started out 2008 with a thirty eighth place finish in the Daytona 500 and could not shake his problems, finishingthirtieth at California, twenty sixth at Las Vegas, thirty fourth at Bristol and forty third at Martinsville. Blaney came back with a twenty first at Texas and a thirtieth at Phoenix before reaching a low point at Talledega, when he was unable to qualify for the Aaron's 499. The team has overcame it's obstacles to finish in the top twenty for the past four consecutive races and is gaining monmentum. The high points of the season so far are a ninth at Lowe's Motor Speedway in the Coca-Cola 600 and Sunday's Best Buy 400 in Dover, where he recorded another ninth place finish. "Tommy Baldwin (crew chief) has done a good job motivating the troops," Balney continued. "There's a lot of racing left in this season. Our Caterpillar Racing team has got some more work to do, but I think from here on out we're going to be able to run up there in the front of the field much more consistently."
