AJ Allmendinger Posts Season High Finish With New Crew Chief

Who said 13 was an unlucky number?

Making his debut with new crew chief Jimmy Elledge in the LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, AJ Allmendinger crossed the checkered in the 13th position, posting his best finish of the season.

“The car was pretty good - it was a little bit tight all night,” Allmendinger said. “Jimmy kept making good adjustments on it - small adjustments - that kept making it a little bit better. But, we were like an eighth to 12th-place car. I think if we just could have gotten that tightness out of it we could have been right around top five.”

The pair only has one race under their belts and things seem to be looking up for the No. 84 Team Red Bull Toyota Camry. Allmendinger stated that the communication between himself and Elledge was superb.

"He’s easy,” Allmendinger acknowledged. “I had more information than I ever could imagine. I knew exactly where I was running the whole time, what lap times I was running, and what the guys near me and behind me were running. It’s everything I could ask for and it seems like it makes driving so much easier.

“I love knowing what’s going on. [Elledge's] experience level – it’s great to have that and learn from that,” Allmendinger continued on the duo’s chemistry.
