On Wednesday night, two-time defending Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson added one more trophy to his collection. Johnson was thrilled to be named as the best driver earning his first ESPY Award.
The ESPY Awards are given out by fan voting. Each fan votes online and whoever collects the most vots wins. Johnson edged out Kyle Busch, Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon, Lewis Hamilton and Tony Schumacher for the award. Honored to have the fan support he does, Johnson sends his thanks to those who chose him.
"I'm so honored the fans voted for me," Johnson said. "There were so many great drivers nominated.” Being the only NASCAR driver to collect an ESPY, Johnson is humbled that he was able to attain that award. “I'm humbled that I was chosen for the ESPY. It was definitely a team effort, and my guys are the best in the garage." Be sure to tune in on Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET as the ESPY Awards will be televised on ESPN.
