Jimmie Johnson took the pole for the Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Speedway.

Johnson won the race in 2006, but is not known to be much of a factor at the Brickyard with three finishes of 36th or worse.

Johnson zipped around the track at 181.763 miles per hour in his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet Impala.

Mark Martin circumvented around the track at a speed of 181.393 miles per hour, earning him the spot on the right hand side of Johnson.

Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon round out the Top-5.

Current points leader, Kyle Busch, qualified for the 19th position.
