On Saturday, August 30th, Rockingham Speedway hosts the ASA (American Speed Association) Southeast Asphalt Tour on its 1.4 mile, 7 turn road course. This course uses the one-mile superspeedway and the historic track’s infield course for this late model stock event. The event is extraordinary because it is the only road course event on the series schedule, which runs mostly on short tracks.

The greatest thing about the event for hard core race fans is you will be admitted for free with a ticket for the American 200 Hooters Pro Cup race hosted by Rockingham-November 1st, 2008. A buy one-get one free deal. This event will have a variety of drivers competing. Many veterans like Jay Middleton and Travis Cope will be swapping paint and rubbing metal with the young guns of the series: Gene Krila, Kyle Fowler, Tyler Millwood and Jerrod Foley. This series is known as a starting point for many of today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Craftsman Truck series competitors, champions, and past champions. Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Alan Cowlick, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Kenny Wallace, Johnny Benson, Ted Musgrave, Reed Sorenson, and David Stremme. You never know who will emerge from this series as a NASCAR champion, and you’ll be able to say: “I remember him when…”.
