Heading into the winding turns of Watkins Glen, Haas CNC Racing's No. 66 currently holds the 35th-spot in owner points. Joe Custer and Tony Stewart are sure to have a close watch on this battle as Scott Riggs attempts to stay in the top-35. Riggs is thirty points behind Penske Racing's Sam Hornish Jr. and fifty-nine points behind Michael Waltrip in his No. 55 NAPA Toyota Camry.
While Waltrip is locked in the show right now, his No. 00 driven by Michael McDowell is on the outside looking in. Only four points behind Riggs in the No. 66, McDowell has had a bit of success at the Glen in the Grand-Am Series by finishing fourth in 2004 and 2005. Making a charge towards the battle is Red Bull Racing Team driver AJ Allmendinger. After sitting out earlier this year, the former open-wheel star has surprised many and put the No. 84 Red Bull Toyota in contention for the top-35 battle. In other news "On The Bubble" Hall of Fame Racing released J.J. Yeley this week in the No. 96 DLP HDTV Toyota. This weekend the car will be driven by road course ringer P.J. Jones. Beginning at Michigan, 20-year-old Brad Coleman will take over the ride. Qualifying is set for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN 2. Be sure to check back to HardcoreRaceFans.com for all the latest news and results.
