Kahne Somebody Stop This Kid?
Sunday, 15 June 2008 19:00

Arguably the hottest driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Kasey Kahne may need his temperature checked.

The No. 9 Dodge Charger has transformed itself into a fireball over the past four points races. Stockpiling two victories and a second place finish, all there is to say is, “Look out Kyle Busch!”

Stretching out what fuel he had left, Kahne battled Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the closing laps of the Life Lock 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Although losing that battle, Kahne still managed to hold on to second place, propelling himself from ninth to seventh in the Sprint Cup points standings.

Kahne had a fast car in practice, but did not get to test its abilities when qualifying was rained out. Kahne started the race in ninth place according to the points standings.

Not satisfied with how his car performed throughout the race, Kahne was grateful for what he made of it.

"We had a really loose race car, sideways all day, entry, middle exit, and just kept trying to fix and get it better and we never really did. We got it better at the end," Kahne said.

"But that final run was the best it had been. It was still a 10th- to 12th-place car, so we took fuel as late as we could under the caution because of all the green flag runs today we just kept taking fuel, and just saved. It's a good finish for what we had."
