Yesterday Kansas Speedway officials proclaimed that if the speedway is granted a casino management contract they will build a road course in the venue’s infield.
"Today's announcement about the possibility of building a road course at Kansas Speedway is exciting for not only race fans, but also for the tens of thousands of members of car clubs," said Boerger on Monday. "Our ability to cross promote a premium gaming, entertainment and retail destination development and state-of-the art road course at Kansas Speedway will attract car clubs not only in the region, but from across the country. This business model helps support our investment in the construction of the road course and, more importantly, will drive higher tourism dollars for the Kansas City area."
International Speedway Corporation (ISC), Lesa France Kennedy, announce that if the casino management contract is granted she will petition for another Sprint Cup Series event at the speedway from one of the other tracks owned by ISC. The proposition of a road course has caught the attention of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and would allow the speedway to host more races which would in turn bring in more money. Jim Julow, SCCA, Inc. President and CEO, is excited about the announcement made by Kansas Speedway. "As the largest active motorsports membership organization in North America, SCCA would certainly welcome and support another venue to host events," said Jim Julow, SCCA, Inc. President and CEO. "Any time ISC has included a road racing course within one of its facilities, it has been nothing short of first class."
