David Ragan crashed his car in the qualifying session at Bristol Motor Speedway and was forced to start in the rear heading into Saturday’s Sharpie 500.
The sophomore driver never let that drag him down and made his way through the field to record a vital top-10 finish for the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing team. With the finish Ragan was able to jump up one spot in the standings and grab the 13th spot, just 12 points away from Richard Childress Racing’s Clint Bowyer.
Having to go to pit road twice on Saturday night due to issues with the car, Ragan is pleased with how the night unwound. “It’s a relief to get a top-10 finish and a finish on the lead lap here at Bristol after going to the back twice – after having some left front fender damage and having to go back on a pit stop and make some adjustments,” Ragan stated. “I wish we would have had a little bit of track position there toward the middle part. I felt like we had a good car to contend for a top-10 finish, but we just did the best we could and everything will take care of itself.”
