Logano To Work With Schrader At Hall Of Fame Racing For Five Races
Thursday, 28 August 2008 08:41

As Joey Logano prepares for his first full season in the Cup Series, he will have veteran driver Ken Schrader in his corner. While Logano will drive for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) in the No. 20 Home Depot Camry at Richmond and Atlanta, he will also join Hall of Fame Racing for five additional races.

Logano will make his debut for Hall of Fame Racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 14th. The 18-year-old's Cup Series debut will be the weekend before, with Joe Gibbs Racing at Richmond. Two extremely important races in the quest for the Sprint Cup, this kid may turn a few heads.

"We look forward to working with Joey during the five races he will drive the No. 96 DLP HDTV Toyota," Tom Garfinkel, co-owner of Hall of Fame Racing explained. "We're happy to work with Joe Gibbs Racing to assist in Joey's development as he prepares for a full season in Sprint Cup next year."

Ken Schrader will help Logano on his journey to the Cup Series by taking over the No. 96 DLP HDTV Toyota in four other races. Logano will pilot the car at New Hampshire, Kansas Speedway, Lowe's Motor Speedway, Martinsville and Texas Motor Speedway, while Schrader will be back behind the wheel this weekend at the Auto Club Speedway, in addition to Richmond, Dover International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway in October.

"Ken Schrader brings practical experience and stability to our race team that will help in a lot of ways," Garfinkel went on to say. "Brad did a great job testing for us at Kansas this week, and Ken will be an asset to Brad as we continue to get him more laps in a Sprint Cup car."

An affiliate team of JGR, Hall of Fame Racing has worked closely with the Gibbs organization before and this move is no real surprise. Earlier this week at Logano's official announcement, team president J.D. Gibbs explained the No. 96 team was a possible ride for Logano.

"We appreciate Hall of Fame Racing helping us get Joey ready for 2009," J.D. Gibbs said of the arrangement. "They came to us with the idea before the August Michigan race and we think it's a great win/win for all of us."

Working with a driver like Ken Schrader - not to mention test driver Brad Coleman - Joey Logano should fit in well and may even find success while preparing for his first full season in the Cup Series.
