"The golf tournament has really come together over the last couple of months," said Jamie McMurray who drives the No. 26 Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing. On Tuesday McMurray announced his third annual golf tournament to benefit Autism Speaks and other Autistic foundations in the United States.
In May of '06 the driver of the Crown Royal Ford launched his foundation and has since donated over $200,000 to charities that support Autism.
The golf tournament will be presented by Crown Royal and the Stanford Group and will be supported in part by Coca-Cola, Aflac, Sharpie and a slew of other sponsors that are going well beyond their commitment on the track to support a truly respectable cause off the track. "To make a really cool day, Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, David Ragan, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin and others told me they'd come out and play in the tournament to help raise funds for autism and autism awareness. We are really looking forward to a great day on the golf course," said McMurray. Competition is a critical aspect of NASCAR but our driver's always come together when it counts and when it matters. Along with the golf tournament McMurray will also be selling t-shirts and hats on his website with proceeds going to the Jamie McMurray Foundation to benefit Autism awareness.
