Joey Logano was scheduled to run the Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway this past weekend, but Tropical Storm Hanna said different holding the rising star's debut in NASCAR's top series off until another day.
Next weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Logano will make his Cup Series debut, weather permitting, but the ride has yet to be determined.
J.D. Gibbs, JGR president, is pleased with how the young driver performed in the practice sessions at Richmond noting that "He was pretty good," in his first attempts. The team and the sponsor had both hoped on Logano making his debut in a JGR car sponsored by Home Depot, but Logano was initially scheduled to drive for the struggling Hall of Fame Racing at New Hampshire putting JGR in a pickle. “We’ll run him next week – we have still got to work out the details in how does that look,” Gibbs said. “We want the first race to be in that Home Depot car. We’ve got a few options to figure out. … You’ve got to be sensitive. DLP is a great partner of theirs [at Hall of Fame Racing].”
