In NASCAR's first venture to New Hampshire Motor Speedway this year, Raybestos Rookie of the Year contestant Patrick Carpentier collected his first pole qualifying effort of his short NASCAR career.
Returning to that same track this weekend, Carpentier hopes to achieve the same success that he put together earlier in the year at this weekend's Sylvania 300. “Winning that pole at Loudon was one of the highlights of my racing career," Carpentier declared. "It ranks right up there with some of my open-wheel victories. I never thought I’d get a chance to race in NASCAR, let alone compete for poles in both of their biggest series."
Despite starting in the front, Carpentier failed to carry his momentum throughout the race. After leading the opening four laps the rookie driver continuously fell back, crossing the finish line in 31st place. Witnessing the success of teammate Kasey Kahne over the course of the season, Carpentier knows that the equipment provided to him is capable of attaining much better results than what he was able to accumulate earlier in the season. “We’re hoping we can take the Berlin City Auto Group Dodge Charger back up there and get just as good of a start," Carpentier said. "I know we can get a better finish The driver of the No. 10 Gillett Evernham Motorsports Dodge continued, "Last time we had just started to get the No. 10 [car] dialed in when it started raining and NASCAR called the race. So we hope to improve on that finish."
