Qualifying Rained Out For Sunday's Sylvania 300
Friday, 12 September 2008 16:52

With rain forcing NASCAR to cancel the Sprint Cup Series qualifying for the second consecutive week, the field has been set according to the 2008 Sprint Cup owner’s points putting defending champion Clint Bowyer in the fifth position.

NASCAR newcomer Joey Logano has been one of the hot topics going into the event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Unable to make the show at Richmond due to rain, Logano was able to take a spot in the race Sunday with the No. 96 being in the 40th spot.

Despite his starting position, Logano is excited to make his debut in NASCAR’s top series.

"It's nice to be in the 96 now and at least be in the race," Logano said. "Obviously, if we came back here with the [No.] 02, we'd have been going home again. Thank goodness we're not."

"I'm waiting for it to get started," an anxious Logano exclaimed. "I'm looking forward to [practice] tomorrow, really. I think we've got some things we were going to try and, hopefully, get this [car] a lot better. That's what I'm looking forward to right now and, after that, we'll think about Sunday.”

The Sylvania 300 is scheduled to begin Sunday afternoon at 2pm EST.
