Patrick Carpentier is now officially a free agent.
On Tuesday Gillett Evernham Motorsports told him that he does not have a sponsor for 2009. Although they could still find sponsorship for the rookie driver, It likely won't happen due to the organization adding Reed Sorenson to the stable.
“It sure is sad that we don’t keep going,” the always smiling Carpentier told NASCAR Scene. “I think we did pretty good with the No. 10. … I’m disappointed, but it’s OK. I’m going to enjoy the rest of the year and just have fun with it and see if we can find anything else.” Accounting for four top-20 finishes and highlighting his season with a pole at New Hampshire, Carpentier has proven that he has great potential to compete with the elite drivers in NASCAR's top echelon. Don't look for the grinning face of Carpentier to disappear anytime soon.
