Kurt Busch Showing Symptoms Of Returning To Former Dominance
Wednesday, 17 September 2008 05:52

With only three top-5 and seven top-10 finishes this year, Kurt Busch has not had the story year he has grown accustomed to having.

However, Busch has concluded the past two races inside of the top-10 shedding a cool breeze on the frustrated No. 2 Miller Lite team.

The most recent came at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Sylvania 300 where he proved himself to be the sixth best driver in the race. Starting in the 20th position, Busch was able to navigate his 'Blue Deuce' up to the top-10 making him the highest finishing non-Chase driver.

"It was a good run for the Miller Lite Dodge," said Busch. "We felt like we had something good from last week and we tried it again this week. It (the car) ran better. It's felt good the last two weeks."

Crew chief of the No. 2 Dodge, Pat Tryson, couldn't agree more with his driver.

"It wasn't too bad a day for our Miller Lite Dodge," Tryson stated. "We started out really good early in the race, but once the track rubbered-up, we got a little bit too tight. We tried to free the car up a bit, but just not quite enough. Overall, it wasn't a bad day. We just need to keep on building on the two top-10s we've had in a row.

"Hey, we were first in our class," a beaming Tryson boasted. "We were the highest-finishing ‘non-Chaser' and the highest-finishing Dodge here today
and that's not too bad."

The sixth place finish bolted Busch to the 18th spot in the standings, and increased the dwindling confidence of the No. 2 Penske Racing team.

Only one question remains... can they keep the momentum going?
