Gordon was the only driver to break 156 mph, after running a fast lap of 23.009 seconds at 156.461 mph. His Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jimmie Johnson was second on the board with a lap of 23.084 seconds at 155.952 mph.

Trying to play spoiler this weekend is veteran Mark Martin in his No. 8 U.S. Army Chevrolet. The four-time Dover winner led much of the practice session with a lap of 23.100 seconds at 155.844 mph.

Roush Fenway Racing teammates Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle rounded out the top-5, while David Reutimann, Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray, Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch made up the top-10.

Final practice for the Cup cars is scheduled for 1:50 p.m. ET, with the cars rolling off for qualifying at 3:10 p.m.
