Chase drivers made up all but one spot in the top-10 in Saturday morning's opening practice session for Sunday's Camping World RV 400 presented by AAA. Dale Earnhardt Jr. led the session with a fast lap of 152.588 mph after running a total of thirty-one laps. Carl Edwards was second fastest in the forty-five minute session with a speed of 152.278 mph.
Edwards' Roush Fenway Racing teammates Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth followed in speed, with Jimmie Johnson rounding out the top-5. Jamie McMurray was the only non-Chase driver to crack the top-10, after posting the eighth fastest time of the session.
The trio of Richard Childress Racing teammates seemed to struggle a bit in the day's opening session. Kevin Harvick led the bunch with the 16th fastest time, while Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer made up the 18th and 19th-spots. Outside pole sitter Mark Martin put his No. 8 U.S. Army Chevrolet 13th on the board, with a fast lap of 150.382 mph. Final practice for the Cup cars is scheduled to begin at 1:50 p.m. ET.
