Roush Fenway Racing teammates and top Chase contenders Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle took the top two spots in the weekend's final practice session. Both Edwards and Biffle ran a total of fifty-seven laps, recording their best laps on their first. Edwards took the top-spot with a lap of 23.738 seconds at 151.656 mph. Biffle was second quick with a 23.805 second lap at a speed of 151.229 mph.
The man currently second in the points, Jimmie Johnson, was third fastest, while Matt Kenseth and Ryan Newman rounded out the top-5. Jamie McMurray continued to show he might be a contender, as he put the No. 26 IRWIN Ford Fusion in the top-10 for the second time today. Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin made up the rest of the top-10.
While the first practice session featured a majority of Chase drivers atop the speed charts, five of top-12 in points were outside the top-10 in final practice. Kyle Busch was 14th fastest, while pole sitter Jeff Gordon was 20th with Jeff Burton right behind him in 21st. Clint Bowyer was 28th best, while Tony Stewart fell from 10th earlier in the day down to 31st. With most teams working on the long run, these speeds may not be indicative of how these drivers may perform come Sunday. Tomorrow's Camping World 400 presented by AAA is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. ET and can be seen on you local ABC station and heard on the radio on your local MRN station. With so much at stake and so many Chase drivers in contention, anything is possible at the Monster Mile.
