In one of the best battles of the year, the Roush Fenway Racing teammates fought hard for the win to come home one-two-three for the "Cat in the Hat" Jack Roush. In the end, it was Greg Biffle who took the checkered flag, going two in-a-row to start the Chase off on the right foot. The man many considered a dark horse in this year's championship hunt has quickly proved he will be a constant factor.
The three Roush teammates raced nose to tail, side-by-side and door-panel to door-panel for the final forty laps of Sunday's Camping World RV 400 in some of the best racing seen at Dover in years.
A caution with fifty laps to go brought the field to pit road for the final round of pit stops. Bob Osborne, crew chief for Carl Edwards, made the call to take only two tires, while the rest of the leaders opted for four fresh Goodyears. When the field went back to green, the race was on as Biffle and Kenseth put the pressure on Edwards and put on a show. Edwards slipped back to third as Kenseth and then Biffle got past; leaving Osborne to question his two tire call. "I lost this race for you," Osborne radioed to Edwards, "I'm sorry." Never one to give up, Edwards was quick to radio back with confidence, "This race isn't over." "He was real mad at himself," Edwards said of his crew chief. "That was a 50/50 call. If we had taken four tires and everyone had taken two I don't think we could have gotten around them." With just over ten laps remaining, Biffle got a great run off Turn 2 and looked to the outside of Kenseth's No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion heading down the backstretch. Kenseth saw the move and threw the block, making a bit of contact with Biffle's left front fender. The block was not enough to hold off the Biff, as he made the move around the outside to take the lead on Lap 392. Biffle never looked back, as he began to put lapped cars between himself and Kenseth. "I knew I had to race Matt Kenseth clean," Biffle said in Victory Lane. "He's a great teammate, Carl Edwards too. I want to thank the fans. They saw a great race here." The win is Biffle's second in-a-row and fourteenth of his career. The victory also moves Biffle within ten points of the championship lead, held by teammate Carl Edwards. Chasing his first career championship, Biffle knows he needs more of the same in order to clinch that first title, "I gotta keep doing this. I knew I'd have to." "I can't thank the fans enough for coming out to support us."
