The highest placing non-chase finisher Mark Martin had one monster of a day at Dover International Speedway.
Starting the Camping World RV 400 in the second position, Mark Martin was able to stay inside the top-5 and head home with a fourth place finish. "I wanted to win so bad for this team and for our Soldiers that I lost my rhythm briefly at the end and got passed," stated Martin. "I gave it everything I had as did this Army team. The pit stops were awesome all day, and as our Soldiers do ever day, we fought to the end."
The fourth place result at Dover was the team’s second straight top-5 and fourth straight top-10. Noting that the car was outstanding from the moment that the green flag was woven until the checkered flag was dropped; Martin is no doubt pleased with the performance of the No. 8 U.S. Army team. "We were solid from the get go and really felt this could be the day that we would pull off a victory," explained Martin. "This Dale Earnhardt Inc. team, led by crew chief Tony Gibson, gave me an incredible car to drive. We made very few changes throughout the race. It's just a real pleasure to drive for this team and have that big Army logo on the hood of our Chevy Impala SS." Heading to a track where he had won at in 2005, Martin looks to keep the momentum going when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ventures to the Midwest for the Camping World RV 400 Presented by Coleman at Kansas Speedway. "We're so close to that win and we're going to do everything humanly possible to get to Victory Lane in the final eight races," said Martin.
