The No. 28 Yates Racing Ford Fusion driven by Travis Kvapil will be decorated this weekend at Infineon Raceway.
Yates Racing proclaimed that the California Highway Patrol will assume primary sponsorship for the Toyota/Save Mart 250 in Sonoma.
"I think this is a very cool sponsorship for us this weekend," stated Kvapil. "The California Highway Patrol (CHP) works to keep everyone in California safe and I'm honored that they chose to partner with out No. 28 Yates Racing team this weekend at Sonoma. I'm really looking forward to making them proud, as well as the state of California proud, on Sunday with our No. 28 California Highway Patrol Ford. The paint scheme for our car this week is very unique and we hope to provide the CHP with a solid performance at our first road-course race of the season." "The goal of this unique one-race sponsorship is to help publicize the California Highway Patrol and the career paths that are available to those qualified candidates interested in a career in law enforcement," CHP Commissioner, Joe Farrow, stated. Kvapil only has one start at Infineon. It came in 2005 where he started the race in the 39th position and crossed the finish line, on the lead lap, in 21st. "I've only raced at Sonoma once but I know that my priorities for this weekend will be to stay on course and complete all the laps,” said Kvapil. “I feel that if we can stay on course all day, and utilize some smart pit strategy with our great race car, I'm confident that we can get a solid finish out of our weekend.” Kvapil noted that fuel mileage will be vital in attaining a good run. “A lot of times fuel mileage plays a factor at Sonoma and I think our team has enough experience with fuel mileage where we might be able to surprise some people on Sunday.” Kvapil is confident in his car’s ability to produce a solid finish this upcoming Sunday. “I really feel confident in our car for this weekend, but I think the biggest factor is going to be how long it takes me to get up to speed and feel confident to run the laps that I need to all day long,” Kvapil said. “I'm looking forward to a great weekend with our California Highway Patrol team."
