With Robby Gordon Motorsports and Gillett Evernham Motorsports resolving a lawsuit last week, the two organizations have decided not to merge which ended their engine agreement.
With the merger lost, Gordon plans on leasing Penske Racing engines for the remainder of the season. "He's never leased engines before," Gordon said of team owner Roger Penske."This is a big deal for us. It's a great opportunity and we're just going to work hard to make it work."
Once he knew that his relationship with GEM was faltering, Gordon noted that he went to Penske looking for assistance. It is unknown as to whether the deal will end at the conclusion of the season, or continue into 2009. "I have a lot of respect for the way Roger runs his business and I appreciate him helping us out," Gordon said.
