With Brad Keselowski on standby, Jeff Gordon battled sickness and 42 other drivers in the Camping World 400 presented by Coleman on Sunday to earn a fourth place finish.
“I guess I need to be sick more often,” said Gordon. “That was a good run and a good car. I know if I had been healthy, I would have gotten more out of it. That was a tough day. “I’m just aching all over, but hey, when you’ve got a car and a team that’s as good as this one, you can’t let somebody else get in there and drive it.”
Feeling a little drained after the race Gordon is pleased with the teams best finish since July at Daytona. Although it was not a win, it was a solid finish and gave the team a little momentum heading into Talladega. “[The race] kind of turned the momentum a little bit our way, [we're] a little more confident in our intermediate program,” Letarte said. “We’ve got a lot of those races left. … We’re excited. Everybody kind of ruled us out. We’re up to sixth in points. We’re still more than in this thing.”
