With all hopes of pulling off a three race sweep to start off the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Greg Biffle ventured to a track where he had experienced triumph before.
In Sunday's Camping World RV 400 presented by Coleman at Kansas Speedway, Biffle managed an 18th place qualifying effort to begin the race. The start did not suffice his competitive nature as he navigated his way up the feild to cross the finish line in the third position, following his teammate Carl Edwards. Stating that the number one goal heading into the Chase was top-5 finishes, it looks as if wishes are being granted for the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing team.
“Our focus coming into the Chase was top-five finishes,” Biffle said. “Certainly, we can’t be disappointed with a third-place finish. I mean, that’s a great finish.” So far in the battle for who will claim the top spot in the point standings, and ultimately collect the championship trophy, Biffle and the No. 16 team have been able to execute three races in. With seven races to go, Biffle feels that any little slip-up by any team will dictate who the champion will be. “I don’t think it will come down to who runs the best,” Biffle noted. “I think it’s going to come down to who has the least little hiccups here and there, you know, small stuff happen – get a pit-road penalty or something, have to go to the back, finish 14th, something like that. “That’s probably what it’s going be like, because all of us are running competitive enough," continued Biffle. "I doubt whether it will go all 10 races just like this, this tight, but it might.” Biffle just hopes that his team will be the one to leave New York with the trophy, and right to call himself the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion.
