Two costly mistakes kept Jeff Gordon from collecting his 14t h victory at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday night.

In position to take the checkered, Gordon allowed Kyle Busch – who won the race – to pass him with four laps remaining. Then the yellow flag flew with just two laps to go. On the restart Gordon could not get his car to take off like he wanted it to. He tried to make up for it by blocking Edwards, but got spun into the infield ending all hopes of a Top-5 finish.

Due to the errors, Gordon finished an upsetting 30th.

"It's unfortunate," Gordon said. "We had such a strong run. I'm more mad that I let (Busch) get around me when I tried to go up and get that high line. I should have stayed on the bottom. My car was so good around the bottom. I'm more mad at myself than anything else."

Apologizing for the accident, Edwards states that there was little he could do to prevent it.

"He was coming down and doing the best he could I think to get in front of me and he was up against my fender," Edwards said. "I thought that he would turn right at any moment, but that's all that happened there. I don't think he knew I was inside of him."

The veteran driver appeared to be a rookie on Saturday night when making the decisions he made. He was given a great car, according to Gordon, and may have won the race. Gordon could not complain with the resources he was supplied with on Saturday night.

"My car worked good anywhere," Gordon said. "It was just awesome. I love having a race car like that. It's unfortunate what happened."
