On The Bubble - Chicagoland

Robby Gordon was the biggest mover in the owner standings last weekend in Daytona. The owner/driver powered his unsponsored No. 7 Dodge to the front for a sixth-place finish. Gordon started the evening deep in the field, 37th-spot. If earning a top-10 was not enough, Gordon also added five bonus points for leading a lap. The team currently sits thirty-first in the owner standings, 114 points ahead of 35th.

"Heading to Chicago, I am feeling good about the way our program is running after our 6th place finish last weekend," Gordon said. "It is the first time that we will be running at Chicago under the lights, so it will be exciting to see what the race on Saturday unfolds."

Penske Racing's Sam Hornish Jr. once again finds himself On The Bubble after falling one spot in the owner standings to 35th. A 29th-place finish in Daytona last weekend was only salvaged by the fact Haas CNC Racing's Scott Riggs - who currently runs 36th in the standings - missed the show.

Despite missing last weekend's Coke Zero 400, the No. 66 Chevrolet driven by Riggs is only seventy points behind Hornish Jr. Heading into Chicago this weekend, Riggs once again will have to qualify on time - something he failed to do the last time the circuit visited the track.

Red Bull Racing Team's A.J. Allmendinger and Hall of Fame Racing's J.J. Yeley are on the verge of eliminating themselves from contention for the 35th-spot. Allmendinger suffered a cut left-front tire at Daytona to finish 42nd, while Yeley failed to even make the show. The pair sits 37th and 38th, 200 and 205 points outside of the top-35, respectively. It's going to take strong runs on qualifying day and then solid finishes week-in and week-out if these two teams want to have a secure spot in next year's Daytona 500.

Qualifying for Saturday night's LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway can be seen on your local Speed Channel at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday evening. There are 45 teams on the entry list for this weekend's race. With the top-35 locked in the show, that leaves seven spots open - eight really, but the past champion's provisional would go to Terry Labonte.
