Gillett Evernham Motorsports and Patrick Carpentier have officially decided to part ways, effective immediately.
In his rookie season Carpentier has peformed like exactly what his title notes - a rookie. Making 24 of the 30 races held so far this season, Carpentier has amassed one pole start and a high finish of 14th that came atJuly's events at Daytona. It's obvious that Carpentier has not amassed the results that the struggling organization needs to redeem themselves as a powerhouse in the Sprint Cup Series. With five DNF's since his opening race at Las Vegas, the driver of the No. 10 Dodge Charger has accumulated an average finish of 29.6.
Robert Desrosiers, Carpentier's agent, states that Carpentier has no comments on the departure at this time. With the seperation of the two, Gillett Evernham is now looking for a driver to take over the driver's seat of the No. 10 Dodge this weekend for the Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. While sources close to the situation say that Mike Wallace is a canidate for the job, the organization has yet to name who that driver will be.
