At the top of any practice or qualifying session this weekend, it is no surprise that Carl Edwards is capable of taking off.
Taking the top spot in Saturday evening's first practice session with a speed of 182.051 miles per hour, Edwards has grown him a set of feathers and is beginning to fly away from the competition. Known for the spontaneous combustion that started at LMS earlier this year, Kasey Kahne can ignite at any given moment and set the stage on fire. Driving the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge, Kahne is scorching Edwards' tailfeathers after charging around the estabolishment at a speed of 181.629 miles per hour.
Kahne's teammate Elliott Sadler earned the third spot in the first practice session. With a top speed of 181.513 miles per hour, Sadler has officialy proven that tough guys can wear pink. Edwards' teammate Greg Biffle and Hendrick Motorsports' Casey Mears were able to conquer the remaining spots in the top-5. Defending champion of the Bank of America 500 Jeff Gordon went fast enough to take the sixth position. With qualifying cancelled on Thursday, it is vital for every team to gather as much information during the two practice sessions in order to put their driver into Victory Lane on Saturday night. The Bank of America 500 is set to begin at 7pm EST on ABC.
