McCumbee Looking Foward To Cup Race At Martinsville
Friday, 17 October 2008 06:02

Finishing 35th in the Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Chad McCumbee will look to participate in his second consecutive Sprint Cup Series race in the TUMS QuikPak 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

McCumbee has raced in five series events this year driving the No. 45 Petty Enterprises Dodge. McCumbee’s highest finish was a 17th place effort that came in the June event at Pocono Speedway.

"Everyone fought hard this past weekend at Lowe's,” McCumbee stated. “We didn't get the finish that we wanted, but I believe we learned a lot for the remaining races.”

Growing up racing on short tracks, McCumbee is confident that he has the skill to collect a strong finish.

"I always look forward to short track racing because that's what I grew up on. The Allison Legacy Series and late model stock racing at Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway did a lot to prepare me for this weekend. And I have a lot of experience in the truck series at Martinsville. It's not going to be an easy weekend. I know a lot of guys struggle in their first cup race at Martinsville, but I believe that I have enough experience, and a good enough team, to run well on Sunday."
