For the second weekend in a row the Sprint Cup Series qualifying has been cancelled due to rain.

The field for Sunday’s TUMS QuikPak 500 will be set according to the 2008 owner’s point standings. Defending champion of the race Jimmie Johnson will once again take the pole spot.

Noting that track position will be important at Martinsville, the struggling Carl Edwards will line up on the outside of the second row in fourth.

Series first timer Scott Speed will begin the race in the 35th position. With no shot to earn a higher spot, Speed will certainly have his hands full as he tries to collect a solid finish to impress those watching.

All practice sessions were postponed as well, and the action will begin starting at 8am EST on Saturday with the Truck Series practice. The Cup Series will begin practice at 11:30am EST.
