Mears Collects Second Best Finish Of 2008 At Martinsville Speedway
Tuesday, 21 October 2008 05:50

With all three of his teammates in front of him Casey Mears could not be the only one of his team to finish outside of the top-10. Mears was able to collect his second best finish of the year by crossing the finish line in sixth place.

With five top-10 finishes in the 2008 season, Mears has not been the most successful driver in the garage. His lack of performance has put himself out of Hendrick Motorsports, but the driver has landed a spot in the stable of Richard Childress Racing for 2009.

In spite of his 2008 efforts, Mears feels that the team has grown and is capable of locating themselves in Victory Lane before the season concludes.

“I think we have really come on,” Mears stated. “We have finally learned what we need on the bigger tracks. I am really looking forward to [next weekend’s race at] Atlanta. The pit crew has really stepped it up too. We had some trouble earlier this year and they have stepped it up. I think everybody is in a position right now to pull off a win before the year it out.”
