The Aflac Children's Cancer Center will become the primary sponsor for David Gilliland for this weekend's Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
With no full-time sponsor for 2008 Gilliland is thrilled to see a sponsor on his hood, let alone to feature a sponsor that does so much good for the country's children. "It feels great to be driving the No. 38 Aflac Cancer Center Ford Fusion for this race," said Gilliland. "It means a lot to me personally that I will be representing such a great cause and I hope to get lots of media attention throughout the weekend in order to further raise awareness of the Aflac Cancer Center's efforts."
Gilliland will certainly enjoy his time in Atlanta this weekend due to the track being one of his favorite to race at. "Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks for a few reasons," Gilliland explained. "First off, it's one of the fastest tracks that we go to throughout the season. Secondly, there are a lot of grooves on the track surface and that gives us plenty of room to race. You can run up high, down low, or in the middle. As a race car driver, that's the kind of track that you want to go to; a place that you have options and where you have the ability to move around and find your best line." With a season that has turned many Hardcore Race Fan's heads, Gilliland is not one to count out on any given weekend. With the jaw-dropping second place finish at Infineon this year, anything is possible for the driver of the No. 36 Ford Fusion. "Atlanta is a place that I always look forward to going to." Gilliland continued, "I think that we are going to have a great performance this weekend. We are running a paint scheme in support of the Aflac Cancer Center which I couldn't be more honored about. It means a lot to be representing such a great cause and I look forward to this weekend with our No. 38 Aflac Cancer Center Ford Fusion."
