Heading into the seventh race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, two Roush Fenway Racing drivers are in prime position to snatch the points lead before conclusion of the 2008 season.
Currently in the second position in the points, Greg Biffle looks to continue on the pole that he got in this race last year. With finishes that fluctuate all over the board, Biffle is thrilled to arrive at Atlanta. The No. 16 team will be using the same car that was used to collect a third place finish at Kansas, and Biffle thinks that he can do much better.
“We had a good run at Atlanta in the spring and we got the pole for this race last year, so I am definitely looking forward to getting on the track this weekend," said Biffle. "We survived Talladega and Martinsville and now we’ve got four tracks ahead of us that we can run well at and certainly have a shot at the win. These next four weeks are going to be exciting for everyone but I think you’d have a hard time finding someone as excited as me to see how it all turns out. I know we’re taking the car we finished third with at Kansas a few weeks ago and I think we can do better with it this week.” Biffle's teammate Carl Edwards, who currently occupies the third position in the standings, has performed very strong at the speedway since his first race at the track in the fall event of 2004.
Out of his eight starts Edwards has amassed two wins, four top-5's and six top-10's. Edwards had a strong run there in the spring this year but fell due to an engine failure. With his problems in the spring race, look for Edwards to continue his dominace at the speedway. “Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks to race at," Edwards noted. "It’s areally fun track and I get excited just driving through the tunnel to get inside – I can’t wait to get there and race this Office Depot Ford. The biggest day of my racing career came at Atlanta Motor Speedway, when I got my first Cup win. It’s a moment I know I’ll never forget.”
