This weekend Bill Elliott will set foot on familiar ground to compete in the Pep Boys Auto 500 at his home track in Atlanta.
Looking forward to the weekend at home, Elliott can’t wait to pilot the No. 21 Air Force Ford Fusion in front of his friends and family. “Racing at my home track in Atlanta is well, like being at home; the fans have always been a big part of making it special to me,” Elliott noted. “I have many fond memories here and hope to make many more.”
While Elliott hasn’t posted the best numbers in the series, the veteran is one of the most successful drivers to have ever drive a car around Atlanta Motor Speedway. Elliott is tied for third on the wins list at Atlanta with six. Although it is a long shot, Elliott could bring back that dominance and move up to second on the list leaving Richard Petty and Bobby Labonte to occupy the third spot. With questions arising of Elliott’s stay at Wood Brothers Racing, Elliott confirms that there has not been a decision as of yet. Elliott stated, “I’m looking at what Eddie and Len have worked to build and I’m trying to help them out. Whatever I end up doing, it’s going to be a short skirt.”
