Reutimann Earns First Actual Finish At Texas
Wednesday, 05 November 2008 07:24

After failing to complete the race in his first two starts at Texas Motor Speedway, David Reutimann pulled one off this past Sunday in the Dickies 500.

Qualifying his No. 44 UPS Toyota in the 12th position, Reutimann was able to lead laps and keep his car up front all day to collect his first actual finish at Texas. Able to reach fifth place by the 17th lap and then climb up to second by lap 29, Reutimann proved to have one of the best cars on the track.

Consistently running in the top five for the next 230 laps, Reutimann hit a bump on lap 251 when the team began battling an inconsistent set of tires. The team adjusted the air pressure in the No. 44 Toyota and restarted the race in the tenth spot.

“We had a car that was way better than 10th place,” Reutimann stated. “I don’t know what happened with the tires there at the end but the handling on the car was never the same. It’s funny because a 10th-place finish is a little disappointing when you look at how the UPS Toyota ran all day. But at least its encouraging from a performance standpoint and definitely something to build on.”
