As if Carl Edwards wasn't winning enough these days, the Gillette Young Gun driver and his No. 99 Office Depot team took the TimeShaver Trophy this weekend. Not only did Edwards dominate the Dickies 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway, his Roush Fenway Racing crew got the job done each time on pit road. En route to his second Cup Series win in a row, Edward did all he could to gain on points leader Jimmie Johnson, while crew chief Bob Osborne decided to gamble with fuel.
"I don't know really what to say," Osborne explained after celebrating in Victory Lane, "but when the caution came out we had to make that pit stop and we knew that we were gonna be short. We went to the drawing board, so to speak, and calculated all the line lengths and how much fuel can our car actually pick up and we were pretty comfortable mid-run there that we would be OK if Carl did his normal great job of saving fuel and he did and we were able to make it, so it was a good end to a bad situation." The strategy played out as Edwards was able to coast to the victory. With just two races to go before the title is decided, Edwards was able to reinforce his strength once again and show this season is not over until it's over.
