Carl Edwards is looking to extend his win streak to three in a row in this Sunday's Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 presented by Pennzoil at Phoenix International Raceway. In
Currently trailing Jimmie Johnson by 106 points with two races to go, Edwards will need all of the points that he can get if he plans to be the 2008 Sprint Cup champion.
"We’ve gained some ground in the championship battle with our wins in the last two weeks," noted Edwards. "We’re hoping that we’ll be able to go for three in a row this weekend in the Office Depot Fusion.” With one pole, three top-5 and five top-10 finishes in just eight starts at Phoenix it is no secret that the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing team knows how to succeed at the at the one mile speedway. “It’s always fun to go to Phoenix. The track itself is pretty unique with a complex shape – so it makes for great racing. We’ve had solid finishes at Phoenix in the past with our Office Depot team, so I know we have the ability to run well there."
