Harvick Feeling Comfortable In Phoenix
Saturday, 08 November 2008 17:29

After winning last night's Craftsman Truck Series race, Richard Childress Racing's Kevin Harvick took the top spot in Saturday's first practice session on the Cup side. Harvick laid down a lap of 27.402 seconds at a speed of 131.377 mph.

One of his favorite tracks, Harvick is hoping to end the year on a high note and knows this weekend may be his best shot. From Bakersfield, California, Harvick has two Cup Series wins, one Nationwide win and three Truck Series wins at the one-mile D-shaped oval in the desert.

"In my own mind," Harvick explained, "I feel like I am so comfortable here that I can just get in and go and really adjust to whatever vehicle it is just because I have been in all of them so many times that I feel like I know the difference between each one when I get in it."

Carl Edwards ran the second fastest time of the morning session, with Jimmie Johnson right behind him in third. Johnson's Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon was fourth fastest, while Ryan Newman rounded out the top-5.
