Joe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin was able to deliver the No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota to the top of the charts during Saturday's final practice session of the weekend. Running his fastest lap on lap number two, Hamlin posted a time of 27.714 seconds at a speed of 129.898 mph.
In his final race for Dale Earnhardt Inc. and the last of his 2008 season, Mark Martin showed his No. 8 was Army Strong, posting the second fastest lap of the session. Starting tenth in tomorrow's Checkered Auto Parts 500, Martin hopes to go out on a good note for DEI.
Kasey Kahne, Jeff Burton and Tony Stewart rounded out the top-5, while Carl Edwards was twelfth and Jimmie Johnson posted the sixteenth fastest time. Sunday's Checkered Auto Parts 500 from the Phoenix International Raceway is can be seen at 3 pm E.T. on your local ABC station and on your MRN radio dial. The eighth race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and is sure to be one for the books.
